My Story
Danielle Martineau, teacher and owner of EmbodyMind Pilates & Yoga
Danielle Martineau LICSW, Pilates & Yoga Instructor, Owner or EmbodyMind Pilates & Yoga.
I am a lifelong mover and former licensed psychotherapist who brought my passion for the mind-body connection to Easthampton with the opening of EmbodyMind Pilates & Yoga in December 2024. For me, movement is far more than just exercise—it's a form of meditation and a pathway to mental and physical ease.
My journey to becoming a studio owner is a story of evolution. A dancer since childhood, I was introduced to Pilates in the late 90s/early 2000s and was instantly hooked. The practice, initially a secret weapon for dancers and athletes, profoundly humbled me by revealing a lack of core strength, leading me to appreciate the power of finding neutral alignment and functional movement. This realization, combined with nearly 12 years spent as a psychotherapist, solidified my belief that movement is medicine.
The catalyst for opening EmbodyMind came after my local yoga studio closed in 2020, and I struggled to find an available, community-focused Pilates studio in Easthampton after the birth of my son in 2021. It became clear: the town needed an accessible space.
EmbodyMind Pilates & Yoga, whose name captures the essence of the mind-body connection, offers group classes in Pilates Reformer, Pilates Mat, and Yoga. The studio’s philosophy is simple: We are committed to providing safe, functional movement to all bodies in a supportive, engaging, and uplifting environment.
Our emphasis is on building sustainable strength through mindful movement, consistency, and showing up—perfection is never the goal.
I am not alone in this mission; the studio is home to five Pilates instructors and two yoga instructors, each bringing a unique style and energy to the practice. I find constant inspiration in the sheer power and capability of the human body, and the best part of my job is knowing I am offering medicine for the body and mind.
To the Easthampton community, I offer a simple message: “Moving your body is fun... It's simply about showing up!”
